Comments by "Taint ABird" (@taintabird23) on "Fears hard border may return to Ireland after Brexit | #GME" video.
What a stupid comment and ill-informed comment.

Ireland will have to put a customs border up between it and the EU - nobody is saying that, but it is sticking out a mile that this is the only alternative option. Irish people will resent the UK for this, but I suspect it will be temporary. A few years without any trade deals and exposed to WTO will see UK delusions evaporate. The UK, perhaps under a labour government, will be ready to discuss a future relationship with the EU in a more grown up manner.

@ Archie Andrews Yes there is a group calling for a referendum on membership - it has zero support and represents only itself - it was founded by an acolyte of Nigel Farage who thinks that the Irish were ordered to voted again in during the Lisbon treaty referendum saga. Support for EU membership is running at 92% and has actually increased since Brexit. I am unaware of the EU being painted as the land of milk and honey - that's a new one on me I must admit.

@ Archie Andrews I could also point to Leavers who have regretted their decision now that they know the truth about Leaving. Things change over time, and once leaving is seen as making no difference to the sense of inequality many leavers felt when making the decision to vote against membership, it is likely that a more mature approach towards EU neighbours will be seen as appropriate. Reading online it is clear that forces in some EU countries that wished too Leave the EU are less certain about it now. In many ways, Brexit has brought its members together in solidarity. At the same time, reading the UK media you would swear that the EU is gripped by a sense of panic at the UK leaving and that the rest of Europe is looking to the UK to path-find a way out of the EU. The main problem in many countries is that, like UKIP, populist parties present simplistic solutions for internal problems, many of which have nothing to do with the EU.

Depends on your job. If you are collecting milk from farms in the border area you can go back on forth along the road several times in a day. Plus you can drive along the same road and cross the border several times without turning off it. So crossing the border 15 times in one day is quite possible depending on your job. Putting controls on that border will be deeply resented.

You have to have a border between two different customs areas.
