The German car industry did not come to the rescue because the UK is country in decline and not worth undermining the Customs Union and Single Market for. The EU will not come to your rescue either. You are leaving without a deal, but the UK will be back looking for a deal once again. But in a much weaker position.

@ His Divine Shadow You cannot Veto reality. The UK is a country in terminal decline since 1945, desperately seeking a role for itself in the world. Brexit UK actually thought it could dictate the terms of its departure to the EU, and then dictate what the future relationship would look like as if it was still the 19th century. The reality is that it has been stopped in its tracks by Ireland, a country that Brexiters have no respect for. The UK has overplayed its hand, and is now engaging in a combination of whinging victimhood and pompous self-regard, And it wasn't just the EU that said Russia cannot just stroll in and annex Crimea, the UK and the UN said so too.
