  1. Putin does not want to ‚make A deal‘. He wants Ukraine. Zelenskyy represents his people and they do not want to be citizens of russia. Peace agreements take time if they are to succeed. 8 years on average, they are complicated. A 3 day ‚deal‘ can only be a stitch up. Putin has no interest in keeping to ANY agreement.

  3. @tatjanaz6062 No, ex-SovietUnion countries do NOT ‘belong’ to Russia. I kniw Putin likes to re-write history, but, Stalin was happy in alliance with Hitler while they were carving up Poland. In 1941 Hitler turned and attacked the Soviet Union, so Stalin with the Soviets Unuion by default joined the allies. In 1991 most ex-Soviet Union elected independence from the Union. Those that wanted to keep close ties with Russia joined the current Russian Federation. The rest, including Ukraine, severed ties with Moscow. Slaughtering their people, stealing their children and cultural artefacts, demolishing their homes is not the best way to win back friendships!

  5. @akyhne Ukraine was given independence from The Soviet Union, as was Russia. Ukraine did not BELONG to Russia. Even though Russia was the leader of the Soviet Union. It was a Union of many countries. As of today some of the smaller countries and regions of the old Soviet Union re-joined together with Russia to make up todays Russian Federation. Very much larger area wise than even the USA. The Russian Federation includes 21 republics, 9 territories, 46 regions, 1 autonomous region, 4 autonomous districts, and 2 cities of federal subordination: Moscow and St. Petersburg.

  6. @shawnsarvaa6804 agree, but 15 years ago large deposits of oil and gas were discovered around the Crimea enough for Putin to start rewriting history books and exercising his Imperialistic urges. He recently said the sale of Alaska to the USA was illegal! That got me wondering if that is where Trump got the idea that the USA should buy Greenland, back in the day..

  7. We saw footage of the site before Russian military blocked it off and sent the civil fire engines etc away. There was only one deceased body on view. With over 60 on board you would expect more to be scattered about.

  10. @bomadsen2392 wishful thinking. He brought up the Greenland issue during his last term. Then 2022/3 praised Putin for writing three regions of Ukraine into Russian ownership so I do unfortunately think he is being serious at least about Danish Greenland. Also doubting Denmark’s conntection with .Greenland. Putin said something similar during period of speeches re re-writing Russias history. Putin said he has been through the parsers and considered the sale of Alaska to the USA May have been illegal. So Trump is not the first to think you can grab land and question legality of ownership. A bit sad that it copies a dictator with dreams of an empire rather than an upholder of rights.

  11. @FunnyBunny-pd5xx Almost none of what he wrote is true. This is a copy & paste set piece that pops up every now and then. Russia does not even try to hit military targets with their ground to air missiles, they regularily fire them at cities. Putin himself said they are to intimidate the civilians. One of Russias missiles fired from their ally Belarus ground did spend some time in Polish air space before being redirected towards Ukraine. Before that one of Russias missiles was shot at by Ukraine‘s airdefence and that landed in Poland. Poland can confirm that for you. Meanwhile Russia last year sent hundreds of drones and missiles aimed at Ukraine‘s grain storage units by Odessa and near to the Danube, many of these landed in neighbouring Moldova. Moldova is the next country Putin hopes to annex after Ukraine and is not in NATO, So please explain what „advantage“ do you think Ukraine would gain if they were the culprits to fit your conspiracy theory. Ukraine really does not have spare ammunition to waste on non military targets. They have downed planes, bombed aircraft on airfields, sunk ships, destroyed tanks and ammunition depots, shot at Russia air defence systems etc. amazing achievement considering „they only shoot at civilian targets“!

How can it annex anything? The only counrtry that has annex anything is Russia, which is huge. 40% of the landmass of Europe, but only 25% of the Russian Federation is in Europe with the remaining 75% stretching across Asia. Although 77% of the Russian Federation population resides in the European 25% of land. The land Russia annexed in Europe however does not belong to Russia but still belongs to the country it was stollen from. So no, the EU and/or Europe have not annexed anything. And the land Russia tried to annex has to be given back.

  15. Were there people on board? The plane was flying east away from the boarder and the airport after refuelling. Also the footage of the crash site is not littered with bodies. Only one on view. Since the site has been evacuated, the fire engines sent home and the military have seal the areas off. They claim to have successfully recovered two black boxes, so we wait and see, but the missing bodies do put doubt on their first announcements. Previously they used Aeroflot planes to transport prisoners. Seems to be more they are using the downing of another of their cargo planes as an oppertunity to influence the west into not supporting Ukraine.

  18. @Yon-pm3ez There is no merit in your comment. There is no humanity in holding a competition on the extent of human suffering of one conflict over another. People have lost their homes to flooding, or loved ones to cancer that is a fluke of nature. But here we are talking about pure evil. A deliberate act of attempt of torture and aggression. In both cases. Both are despicable. When it is your loved one you know how awful it is, but it should not be necessary for it to be your own flesh and blood to realise this, human compassion should bring that comprehension. And telling that person what they suffer is irrelevant, because someone else has greater pain is cruel and nonsense too. There is no greater pain than the one EACH is enduring at that time.

He says so many weird things. The discussion is: is this another weird thing or could it have legs? Greenland have already said they are not for sale. Canada are surely not taking this seriously? We wait with baited breath.

  21. ​ @MrSyntheticSmile  hi, I did reply a while ago. Seems it was deleted, probably because I had imported a Chunk of text. This is my second attempt to write today. Loosing the will to live! Lol I was unable to find where I read that, but did find a report. It seems Putin had allocated money to finance a comity to find, register and protect any Land or property assets that historically belonged to Russian Territories of the previous Russian Empire or the Soviet Union era. It said this would include Alaska, sections of of Eastern and Central Europe, Central Asia and Scandinavia. This to be completed by the formed; Foreign Property Management Enterprise.

In the piece I first saw it said ‚illegal‘ that was wrong, I apologise. In the text (translation of the document) I found after you asked and tried to post (got deleted - too long?) it translated as to „Find register and legalise.“ . In the replacemnt Text I found next and wrote above the translation said „find, register and secure“. But I repeat none of this says he wants it back, only he wants the comity to see what (they use the word ‚property‘) in the various areas once the Russian federation and Soviet Union they can lay claim to.

  31. I think the reason Trump is so angry is because he realises this will not work. He is not such a wonder boy that he imagined. He is blaming the victim, but even if Putins ego war was inevitable (which it was NOT) Did Putin HAVE to steal children, bomb churches, order rapes, torture, mass murder of civilians and POWs and flattern everything they claimed they were rescuing? If they were superior it should have been easy and no need for slaughter technics . Trump said Ukraine had to cower away because Russia has the bigger army. So why did Russia not win? They do not even have the areas they claimed they now own! But now want Trump to fix it so that it is handed over to them- without fighting. Just one of the cities alone has 600,000 residents. Unconquered, but according to Putin, it is his.

Putin bombs churches, schools, hospitals. He has abducted thousands of children, told them Ukraine does not exist and that they are now Russian, Ukrainian chikdren in the occupied areas and being taught how to fight - for Russia. Putin has back tracked on all of the past 8 official documented agreements he signed. Unless there is a genuine guarantor this planned Peace agreement is worthless. He will be back in ten, fifteen years to complete his genocide and continue with his plan to capture all the now independent but previous soviet countries. We want peace. Zelenskyy serves his people who want peace. Putin is the aggressor, he could make peace tomorrow by taking his invasion forces back home. Putin wants to eradicate Ukraine and their culture. As when he banished the Crimea Tartar from Crimea when he stole the land from Ukraine 2014. With or without signature, Putin will be back, 5,10, 15 years after signing he will continue continue his quest to capture all since Independent ex-soviet countries. Unless Ukraine gets a real guarantor protection.

Especially the environment to keep the world Un polluted and safe. Big comes with more responsibility than smaller countries. If you want the properties of the Danish Greenland then you can negotiate a deal to purchase them, just like any other decent government. Robbing a neighbour is on par with Putin’s Russia. And by copying Putin, your leader is damaging the alliance that has held peace for the past 70 years. Putin will be jumping for joy in witnessing conflict within NATO, same as he is currently doing in trying to turn European countries against each other. He will not succeed. However with your and Trump’s rhetoric on this matter. He suddenly has an ally in his evil deeds. I do not kniw if it is deliberate but this incoming president does seem to be more keyed into Putin’s ideology than into being protective of western values.

  38. As far as I can tell 2% was a suggestion or even recommendation, but not a law. And many countries in Europe spend more than that anyway. Plus the money the USA spends on developing weapons it gains revenue from by selling to other NATO members. Poland’s recent order was particularity huge. Plus the benefits of collaboration in weapon design. I think the USA currently spends 3.4 GDP on NATO. IF Trump is serious about 5% that would be a huge rise for the USA as well as the rest of NATO. Of the 31 NATO members only 8 pay in less than 2% of their GDP.M

  39. I must have this all wrong. So our ships are not negating the seas? Were we not recently fighting against the pirates attacks on shipping in or south of the sues channel? Did I imagine the involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq where the announcement of US withdrawal went out to the world before our also present military had notification? There were other countries involved, including Denmark. I find that 92% hard to believe if these were NATO engagements. I do appreciate an until now sober USA partnership in all this. Our militaries can and do gain much from each other. But it is not true that the USA only gives and the rest only takes. The USA is the bigger power, it also atm gains the most from the armourment industry. But also from world wide commerce, selling US built domestic planes and other produce world wide. There are US bases all around the world, not for charity, but because they are useful and mainly they are part of the enforced diplomacy necessary in keeping good or at least cordial relationships with countries of diverse ideologies. World peace is important for somewhere as large as the USA with fingers in many pies Where us smaller countries can help we do. The US has been helpful with our struggle with Russia. The ISW updates and so many voluntary organisations. No reason to repeat here the many reasons why the outcome of this war in Ukraine is essential to the USA along with all western democracies and also in ensuring the US Dollar remains the international trading currency. I just hope a confrontational Trump does not weaken long nurtured western alliances and play straight into Putin’s hand. Putin has pushed his trolls, lies and misinformation to crumble the glue holding us together. The last thing we need is a fight between NATO members.

Another heading said 8m emigration, do not know if refering to the same year, but guess they do not alter much. If the same year that would be 10,8m immigrants.

In some places it brings extra trouble for the “host” country, as in increase of hostility from neighbours, extra policing, noise, environmental problems or the land is needed for other reasons. But in most it is amiable especially when off base integration is possible. Roads serviced, shopping Etc.

It currently pays 3.4 of GPD. 8 Out of 31 other members currently pay less than 2%, GPD, but the others pay more, with Poland the highest at 4.12% GPD. This is nit money paid TO NATO. This is money spent on weapons/armament. I guess if they have a cheeper supply they pay less. However military production is notoriously expensive, forever updating specs. Etc. so own production can often be more expensive than buying in (from the USA)

They need the Ukrainians because of the oil, gas, minerals but also because they were the engineers that designed and built their Soviet era tanks etc. Putin commits cyber attackers on western infrastructure and pays bloggers and internet trolls to spread hate and misinformation to divide nations. Only the embassy grounds, same as any other country. Plus you have hundreds of bases and commercial companies in many countries overseas. Same as other countries. . To Hold a cease fire now is only allowing him time to re-deploy new troops from North Korea, to re-Equipe his army and prolong this war. To halt the delivery of the already allocated arms to Ukraine will only do what holding up the bill for six months did previously. It slowed Ukraine‘s progress in getting the invaders Out. So increased the numbers dying unnecessarily. So both of Trump‘s plans , 1) a quick (with no real commitment) cease fire plan and 2) the Hold up of the delivery (where they have already been allocated - so will stop planned defence action) of promised arms. Both will lead to both more deaths - not less and to lengthening - not shortening the war. If Putin wanted the killing to stop he could do so tomorrow. By taking his army out of Ukraine. But he does not. He wants the whole of Ukraine and to rub out the identity of all Ukrainans. Like he banished the Crimea Tartars from Crimea. But he woukd gladly acept any help he can get from Trump in achieving this goal. Starting by his pretending to agree to a cease fire. Even faking an agreement to peace. As several Countries that have previously dealt with him have been trying to explain. Putin signs many papers. Every time he has NOT kept his word. That is why Zelenskyy is saying. He will gladly agree to peace, they WANT peace, but to ensure that Putin does not double back to attacking again in ten, fifteen, years he needs an agreement that offers protection for a fair peace.
