@lani6647 Russia does NOT border Poland. On the West it borders Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Finland and Norway. It has bordered NATO CO-founder Norway since the very creation of that post ww2 organisation. And Putin knew VERY WELL there was no danger of an invasion by NATO. In fact in 1991 then president Yeltsin wrote to .NATO showing interest in Russian joining. It is Putin that pulled away with plans to re-build Soviet style domination over its neighbours. It is down to Putin alone that now their neighbour with the longest border, Finland, is in the process of joining NATO. Finland and Sweden were proud of their independence from both NATO and Soviet influence and both have their own formidable military ability. Putin’s February 2022 ruthless aggression and invasion has convinced both nations that Russia cannot be trusted and extra security is needed. Both on hand of Putin’s actions decided to apply to join NATO.

They are protecting their homeland and very existence. Back in Feb. 2022 confronted with a convoy of Russian tanks they made impromptu monotov cocktails. If only to feel they were doing something! Now they are making drones, sheets of camouflage etc. when you are at war, everyone gets involved.

@Cotac So you support murderous Putin’s aggression on foreign soil? Putin first invaded and annexed two areas illegally in 2014. They also placed insurgents and Wagner troops into the Donbas area ongoing since that year. In 1994 Ukraine had passed its nuclear weapons over to Russia under an agreement signed by Ukraine, .Russia, the USA and U.K. of protection against invasion of aggression from outside their boarders. Previous administrations had also handed tanks over to Russia. Whatever help Ukraine has had since then addresses this imbalance. This was however not NATO.

Paul, yes, that was Putin’s aim. If he forces a “peace” with stealing only the five sections he already mentioned including .Crimea, then in a few years later he will come back for more, Moldova too. He wants Ukraine to be gone. Ideally he wants Poland too and would likely carve up the western parts of Ukraine between Poland and Belarus. (But surely he must see with Poland being a member of NATO that unlikely, unless ,,, well maybe Trump can help? ) He has already re-written the .Russian school history books and has told the children they stole that Ukraine, their place of birth, does not exist.

He is the Hitler here. Abductions, murders, torture. His lies about “peace” mean total absorption of Ukraine. It does not stop there. He has already made moves on Georgia and Moldova. If you think a Recreated Soviet Union in alliance with China, North Korea, India etc is of no concern of the USA then you are daydreaming and a huge awakening is in store for your offspring.

Trevor, after Russian had banished the Crimean Tartar from their homeland, imported tones of Russians with the promise of building and dockhand jobs and displaced Ukrainians by confiscating their homes. Same as his “elections” in the newly occupied claimed Ukrainian land.
