@JohnSmith not so. Ukraine is older than Russia. Much later they along with the Balkans etc joined together as the Societ Union. In 1991 is when the Soviet Union disbanded and several countries, including Russia and Ukraine became separate and independent. Some exsoviet countries rejoined together as the ‚Russian Federation’. but thIs does not include Ukraine, Poland and many others mainly those west of Russia. They remained separate. This is Putin‘s main reason for this war. He wants to be as powerful as Stalin and wants to excert power over all the nations of the once Soviet Union.

@Jose-hs4vk you have been peddled nonsense. Russia has shared a boarder with NATO since its foundation 1949 with founding member Norway. Putin, along with all previous Presidents of Russia knew and knows there was no threat. Only since Putin has taken over has he been busy reversing Russia’s glasnost and perestroika progress. Curbing freedoms and building up his military strength to give himself the tsar like powers he needs. Putin has invented this NATO threat to subdue his people and exaggerate an outside enemy danger so they accept the hardships of a war economy and back him regardless. Shame the opposite happened. His fear mongering has bound two neighbouring Scandinavian countries into joining NATO. Both were proudly neutral before Putin started showing his ruthless hand.
