  2. Ukraine does not want to live under Putin’s thumb, like Belarus. Russian troops, Russian mercenaries go home, no one would have died had they not invaded. Simple.

  3. Finland and Sweden were like Switzerland proud of their neutral status. They only applied to join NATO because of the Russian invasion into Ukraine 2022. NATO was not the reason for the invasion. One of many deflection tactics of Putin. They already shared a boarder with a NATO founding member, Norway since 1949 and knew that was no threat. Real reason was Land grab and exerting power of ex-soviet proportions and a history book entry for tsar Putin.

  4. It may well be that Putin’s wish was to reduce NATO influence in nearby Europe, but that was not the reason because invading a neutral country does not change anything. Maybe to shore up more land under Russian control as a counter, but why should Ukraine give up its sovereignty for Putin. A bit ironic then that his neighbourly aggression has caused two previously contented neighbours to get jumpy and apply to join NATO.
