  1. @51madmitch Nepal is stepping in to prevent more of its citizens being drawn into the Russian/Ukraine conflict. They say around 100 of the approximate 200 that joined the Russian army have gone missing. They are demanding Russia pays compensation to the families of those that died wearing the Russian uniform. Previously reports said their was a lump sum paid to the family on enlisting to fight for Russians from the poorer areas, then a comparably good salary for those while on the front. Assumedly this meant less costs to Russia should they “go missing” die soon on the front line. So does this also apply to foreign recruits too? Remember the father from one of the African countries asking the press how his son, in Russia on a scholarship, was found to be in an Ukrainian prisoner of war camp? And now refugee families being told they will be deported if their men folk do nit join the Russian army.

  4. Shows alliance. A return of favours. Where Russia presumably is offering something in return. North Korea is a loose cannon. Russia has nuclear and rocket knowledge, both of which Kim Yong Un Is interested in.

  6. My first thought. I am not sure how big they are. Depth. From photos they look just a bit longer than tug boats. Transporters that carry tanks could surely transport one, even two? Problem there would be a suitable airport. And easily spotted both on the Rhine/Danube and the air transporter. There has to be an alternative route.

  7. I think the Danube source is around the black Forrest, so southern Germany. It would also depend on the depth of the canal joining the Rhine to the Danube to complete a journey from the north seas to the Black Sea.

  8. Putin ignored Zelenskyy’s response to the invasion of March 2022 offering to agree to not join NATO and to give the Eastern sections of Ukraine the vote to become independent of Ukraine. Putin ignored him because he had his own choice of replacement for Zelenskyy ready. Refused to recognise Ukraine as an sovereign country and refused to even address Zelenskky, who he repeatedly said he did not accept was the legitimate leader, even though zelenskyy was the Ukrainians choice as president. This speaking with Zekenskyy would only interfering with Putin’s real aim to take the whole of Ukraine under Russian control, bound by obligation of favours, as with .Belarus and next in line, Moldova.
