After the dissolving of the Soviet Union Ukraine owned a lot of nuclear weapons. Ukraine agreed to give up its weapons in exchange for guarantee of protection should they be attacked by an outside force. Signed by Ukraine, Russia, the U.K. and the USA. Russia went back on this agreement in 2014. No consequences followed, so Putin staged this follow-up ‘Special Operation’. Feb.2022. No wonder he refused to call it a war. This is not NATO helping Ukraine, it is all these individual countries. uK and the USA. Signed that agreement. @Burebista And why Ukraine gave up (to Russia) its nuclear weapons 1994. Agreed was Russia, the U.K and the USA would in exchange protect Ukraine from future attacks. Probably one of the many reasons Putin was threatening by law imprisonment for anyone in .Russia calling his “Special Military Operation” a war. Although as he himself used the w word recently I feel he will use bias in the application if that law.

That is bullshit. Instead of listening to loose words, see what they DO. NATO was a neighbour to Russia since the day it was formed. 1950s. See the Norwegen/Russian boarder. Putin KNOWS Russia was in no danger of attack from Nato. Putin invaded for his own expansion reasons. Putin felt Europe and NATO would not interfere as with 2o14 when he annexed The Crimea. The question of joining NATO did not become vital for Sweden, Finland and Ukraine until Putin showed his true aggressive hand with this invasion and all the inhuman war crimes he is willing to allow inflichted on his (as he maintains) Russian “Cousins”.

@SuperGamer3000 more than half of that was taken in 2014.; this two year invasion has gained only about 10% for Russian losses of around 310,000 troops. Ukraians are fighting for their very existence. Putin has changed history books, stollen Ukrainian children from the areas they occupy and has made it clear they consider Ukraine as a nation does not exist. Any agreement Putin makes he will NOT hold to, same as he has done with Chechnya. And other previous “agreements” Putin has previously signed.

@den-it3uj Firstly there are many nationalities living in free Ukraine, as in all countries. Many Russians in fact live and worked there. Many chose to fight for Ukraine’s freedom, and many more from overseas have travelled there to help. Russia recruites mainly from the poorer not pure Russian ethnic areas of Russia. Putin has enticed people from further into Asia and from Africa and has just recently declared all foreigners living in .Russian territories must sign an elegance to Russia, that means that if of recruitment age they can be called up for the front line. Lovely!

Don’t worry. All the equipement the Europeans are donating to Ukraine are being replace with orders for new. Your armory industry will do OK out of this. As you are counting the value of money over lives. And help is not just money or weapons,. Other countries are supporting the Ukrsinians in many other ways you cannot add up in $$$$$.

Putin is responsible. Take his troops home and the war will end. Only he will not. He has to bring success or his re election next year will fail. Also a win is the only way way he can brush off all the war crimes he has committed. You backing the aggressor says a lot about you. This is war conditions, the same applied when we had to fight against the Nazis in WW2. To be under Russian control Ukraine would cease to exist. Putin himself said so. With all the abductions, accidental “poisonings” and “falling out of windows”. Do you really think Ukrainians would welcome such “Freedoms” living under the oppressions of Russian rule? Putin’s opposition is either dead, behind bars or in exile. He is gearing up for another 90% election!
