@chrisblanco2980 are you saying the American government operates as it did 100 years ago. Or maybe 200 years ago with slavery? All countries move on and the German government has many checks and boundaries in place. The Basic Law was set up in 1949 start of The Consitution of the Federal Republic of Germany.

@BeatMedicare of course not. I was simply replying because OP’s criticism of the current legislation set up in the USA was countered with “ bad things in the past”. No one was referring to good or bad. The logic behind such a set up was questioned. My reply was to get it back on track. That the current legal system in .Germany is based on the 1949 set up. No connection to the “bad things of the past”. Which was not part of the discussion anyway. I have every reason to not forget the attempt at termination of the Jews. Not that they were the only victims in that Hitler led onslaught, same as with Putin today. Many countries Hitler invaded also gave up their Jews to Hitler’s SS too. Either in the hope it would save their own skins, earn them extra rations etc or because of a shared hatred. Belief in Hitler propaganda. We will never know.

@BeatMedicare is the USA still occupying those countries? Are they now “U.S American”. Stealing their children and indoctrinating them against their homeland? Who asked them to get involved? Why? Yes, the USA has been involved in many wars. There are many countries also suffering from a sort of gang warfare type military takeover killing indiscriminately that are desperately asking for outside (USA) help. Opposing extremists then declaring the USA started it! You can’t win. In or out, but you have to use your head. Dismiss what a dictator or these fanatics are saying, and see what they do to not be duped. Putin has told so many lies. You still believe he will be pacified with just holding on to what he has claimed to have annexed? Even those areas were NOT annexed, because the rightful nation owning the Donbas Obass etc was not involved in any discussion. The USA does not occupy any of those countries, in the most invited in to help. Many more are beging for assistance, while the terrorist or extremist then say the USA started it. @BeatMedicare as far as I know the USA has not taken over foreign countries and stollen their citizens. Forced conversion into USA citizenship. I think you do not know enough about the ideology of Hitler and are acting blind to Putin’s self confessed true intentions for Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia etc. If you believe the USA, which in most instances had been invited into these countries at war with themselves, acts the same way as Hitler’s nazi party and the Kremlin supported Putin, then you have held a very sheltered life!

Simple. Trump considers those that died in war as losers. His thinking does not go beyond that. He does not even feel he need honour the laws of the land, let alone do something brave that may cost you your life, but will save the battle or save hundreds of others lives. And he did say veterans that died in war were suckers and losers. He said it in Paris. It was raining and he wanted to sit it out watching am TV, rather than the early start for the prearranged „exhausting“ road trip to Normandy to attend another dreary day around a (well cared for) USA WW2 military graveyard. His entourage tried to soften the message by saying the drive would be a security risk. Although they seemed happy with the arrangements before theatric, and of the day before. There was a hint that the trip too short for him to use his presidential plane, or it was not available at thatvtime. Whatever the cover up was. Those words were unlikely to have come from another source. „Suckers“ is very much an American word. not used in Europe or elsewhere. Also later when wanting to diss one of your politicians that has been a submarine commander or such, and had been captured (forget the name). Trump openly in front of the press said he like „winners, not losers“. So that very much fits into his mindset on those that serve the country.
