  2.  @OptiNihle  Sorry for not flagging the name. I was replying to Shadowboi3684, not OP. Shadow said watching WW2 footage in films made this war look like a walk in the park. However horrific WW2 was, and my father served in that one, comparing does not make this killing of fathers, brothers, sons, the displacement of families, destruction of whole communities, thee mameing any less than horrific. You cannot compare loss when it is your relative that dies. Each one is valuable.

Then 2014 set up the Wagner group in Ukraine spefically for this reason. He financed other private armies too Rusichs etc. the initial skermishes had calmed under Zelenskyy.   4.  @OptiNihle  I agree, I was reacting to shadowboi3684 and stand by the desensitising comment. Compassion is the looser for some with such remarks. He said the WW2 films make this look like a walk in the park. Even if it were just one person, it is still real life. Abductions, torture, rape, mass destruction. This IS real.

  5. They have mounted guns, but they are higher up and anti aircraft or ship to ship. Drones come in below their firing range once they are close alongside.
