@mazzolaro1 Please explain to me why any nation should willingly ‚loose their statehood‘? Russia is already huge, they do not need more land. They only need a government more concerned with the welfare of their people than indulging their wannabe Tsar in building a new empire.

Norway does not agree with Diesen.

@monsieurhercule just your opinion alone. The people of that country had a choice. And they decided on Zelenskyy. Zelenskyy had a choice and decided to do what the Ukrainian electret wanted. He stayed. To say they are “owned” is rubbish. It is because they did not want to Belong to Russia several ex-Soviet countries opted for independence in 1991. And that was NOT triggered by the USA. It started with the fall of the Berlin Wall. Since then Putin has tried with bribery etc to influence and take control back in places lije Ukraine. Like persuading them to reduced their armament. A previous pro- Russian Ukrainian president donated the majority of Ukrainan owned tanks to Russia in some deal involving energy. No doubt to his own personal benefit. This is how dealing with Putin works. He has been working on taking Ukraine for a long time. The Wagner Group was 2014 formed in the Donbass Ukraine by Putin along with insurgent sent in to stir up discontent and problems to make an official invasion possible. Ridiculous to declare any country a punch ball. They have their own voice. About time you listened.

@lpjunction Are you recommending that international law should not apply? That only the huge countries with the most money are allowed to keep their own land?

Ukraine has not ‚ lost‘. 20% of their land with its richness in minerals. Putin is attempting to STEAL it. This is Putin‘s REAL reason forvinvading. First Crimea (Coal, gas and oil) now the Donbass etc.. Next the wheatfields and most importantly the Ukrsinian skills. The engineers that built the Soviet rockets, tanks, planes. He will enforce his army with Ukrainians.

Diesen is wrong. War crimes by Putin and his Wagner and regular forces. Ordering POW to be tortured or shot! Using drones bombs to pick off civilians while they wait at bus stops! Zelenskyy most certainly is NOT the criminal here. He rise to the challenge in following his citizens‘ wish to defend the country, its culture and people. Unlike putin who changed the law to allow him to extend the years he is permitted to stay in power, Zelenskyy does want to hold elections within 90 days of war end. He deserves a rest!

Yes, eradicating polio, such an evil goal!

@estherV4N3V9, yes and Zelenskky agreed to that in March 2022. He said we agree to not joining NATO and to give the eastern areas of Ukraine the vote on if they want independence from Ukraine. Only that was NOT what Putin in reality wanted. Just an excuse, long since abandoned. He wants the whole of Ukrsine. In the Feb 2o22 with tanks sent from the Belarus regions down to Kyiv invasion Putin had already sent his choice of replacement for Zelenskyy to Belarus, ready to take over. Putin did not reply to Zelenskyy’s reply. At the time he kept up his stance that he would not talk with Zelenskyy. (Woukd not even say his name) because he did not see him as the “legitimate leader” of Ukraine. So, we are here. The war of resistance against overthrow. . And two countries insistent over almost 80 years In not doing so, joined NATO. Sweden and Finland live alongside. Norway also boarders Russia, one of the founding NATO countries. They were no threat to .Russia and Putin knows that. He is manufacturing “excuses”. So ironic that his “fear” of NATO should trigger a fear in his sensible neighbours resulting in a even bigger NATO presence along Russia’s boarders. So adding Ukraine to that list should really make no difference!
2
Glenn Diesel should move to Russia. He will be a neighbour to NATO instead of living in that NATO nation. Norway, a founding member of NATO which shares a boarder with Russia since day one! Putin knows there was no threat coming from NATO, a defence organisation. He lied abiutbhus ‚reasons‘ for I invading.

@leight420 could just be that you do not know as much as you imaging. Or are just unaware that you have been duped by Putin‘s JGB tactics. Tell me: for what purpose did Putin finance and weaponise his private army, the Wagner Warriers formed in Donbas, Ukraine in 2014? Why did he engage the Nazi member lead Russics? The retaking of this land and population was always his longterm plan. It is why he has set up a group in Moldova too. He already „owns“ Belarus. Has a hold on politicians in some of the other ex-soviets too. All part of Putin‘s empire building plan. Even re-wrote the history books too predating as ‚Russian‘ aspects that date before Russia was formed. Putin even looked into the past and commented that he considered the sale of Alaska was possibly illegal.

@lindenwatson846 don‘t Talk rot. Ukraine is at war. Martial Law requires all political parties work together and no elections. There were no elections in the Uk during WW2. How do you have fair voting when polling stations are underfire? Thousands of citizens are misplaced or overseas. Thousands more under occupation. More have been abducted, children stollen and moved to Siberia etc. Ukraine‘s opposition leaders also say there should be no elections until this war is over. Zelenskyy Does not want to hold onto power. He said they will hold elections within 90 days of war end.. Unlike Putin who is keeping the country at war to keep his people under control. He changed the law tomalley himself extra terms in office. He is now there until death!

@DistortedEmpath. They have forced companies such as Gasprom to take out loans they cannot repay! Just to keep the government and weapons production running. The books are cooked.

If you do not know what the alternative was for Ukraine then you have managed to ignore so much of what has been going on. Ask any Balkan state if they want to return to the clutches of Putin.‘s Russia!

@johnkrieg9368 the ‚real world‘ has passed you by if you think Putin has plans to allow Ukraine to ‚live in peace‘, despite whatever he signs. Been there before. He is too crafty for you. For over ten years he had been sending insurgents across into Ukrainian soil to create conditions in which he could invade. This despite signing ‚protections Ukrsine boarders‘ agreements. Why would another signing make Putin behave any different this time around. He wants that land, those minerals (Letting China extract as we speak) and wants the people to boost his economy and army numbers.
1
@ Durnyful the Istanbul papers were no more a gaurantee of Putin keeping to his word than he did any previous agreement. Then the atrocities of Bucha came to light as the Russian withdrew. That was the crunch line. Putin’s insurgents had been creating havoc in those Eastern oblasts for ten years. It was clear he could not be trusted to keep out.

Putin is trying to replace the use of the US dollar for international trade with his new BRICS systems.

Always had great respect for my Norwegian contemporaries. I had no awareness they could also produced such a numbskull!

@hanielgaribay7623 then how about YOU get your facts right. Feb 2022 Putin invaded, tanks headed towards Kyiv and troops directed to take the airport with a replacement for Zekenskyy ready to arrive by plane. Only they were pushed back from both. March 2022, Zekenskyy made a speech addressing Putin‘s conditions. Said Ok agree to not join NATO and will allow the Eastern states to a free vote on if they wish for independence from Ukrsine. Silence from Putin. He refused to reply to Zelenskyy. It took months before Putin even said Zelenskyy‘s name in public as he refused to acknowledge him. Reason: those were not the real reasons. As for the Nazi slur, Russia has a far more active neo-Nazi sub culture than any other European country. (check out the locking-up of Russian known Nazi groups in preparation for the 2018 football world cup in Russia) This always was a Land an people grab. In the meantime after pushing the Russians back from around Kyiv the Bucha atrocities were discovered; that was the main decider that Putin must not be allowed to get his way.

Lol. Reversed thinking!

@JamesBond. Rubbish. What about Georgia? The same situation. Is the pressure coming to them from Russia because of their choice of Preisdsent also diwn to your Victoria Nuland? No. See what Putin is doing to other places. Moldova etc. all the same tactics as the attitude he has with Ukrsine. He wants to reverse their decision on wanting the freedom of independence. Russia also wanted this independence back in 1991. Only since Putin came into power, (and now has changed the constitution so his reign can be extended) are they trying to reverse that progress. He wants domination au par with a military state dictatorship. And how dies this effect the USA? The stink he is stirring up with .China and North Korea is being extended. He is making anti USA. Moves as we speak. Invading Ukraine only one part of it. Your “expert” is only counting tanks and seeing the battle field element. Putin’s infkuence politicsl goes a lot further than that. Stop being blind to that. Trump giving five extra regions of Ukraine to .Russia would only reinforce his position both politically and militarily. He has stollen Ukrainian grain, their mineral mines, oil and gas. After a Russian success he will have ALL their land, their hi-tech capabilities and other technologies previously suppling Russian development. To use against the West.
