Tbh, he was told and calculated on a total war casualty number in the low hundreds over no more than a week...

Though I'ma Swede, I wouldn't trust Turkey to honor that even without us in NATO

I think the biggest problem in this situation stems from the insane and cowardly appeasment and compromise culture present among many of the top level politicians in the Swedish parliament. As I see it, they should never have agreed to separate negotiations with either Turkey or Hungary. They should have filed the application to the NATO general assembly, and only accepted conditions from that body. We are applying to join NATO as an alliance, we did not apply to become a vassal to one christian fascist and one muslim fascist dictator.
14
@csat1078 gmo in and of itself isn't a problem, the problem comes from the IP laws that enable corporate crime syndicates like Monsanto to gradually monopolize the global food industry.
14
@tsugumorihoney2288 bullshit.
13
And as a consequence, Russia has worn out so many artillery barrels that those barrels can no longer hit anything smaller than a hospital if they tried and they had to resort to using T-55s as infantry support assault guns and improvised artillery...
13
@aliraslaner then why are Turkey undermining NATO by allowing chinese electronics to circumvent the economic sanctions to reach the Russian weapons industry?
12
@susannamarker2582 how much does FSB pay you per post?
11
@jaska7515 and one of those children sent a very beautyful wreath of flowers to my paternal grandmothers funeral in 2017, they had kept contact by letters and phone calls ever since that girl was able to go back to her parents after the war :)

@sarionilkka and up until y2k, Sweden had an identical defense in depth doctrine for the entire country involving both the armed forces, the civilian public sector, and most of the heavy industry. The latter often had parts of their own staff on war mobilization contracts as a local defence garrison, complete with permanent defence bunkers, an armory and often a number of obsolete tank turrets mounted and disguised at critical choke points, accessed through permanent comcrete walled trenches or underground culverts between factory buildings. Many factories were also, if possible, built right up to cliff faces, with enough of the factory extending into the cliff that production could be maintained at more than 50% capacity even if the exterior parts of the factory was bombed to rubble.
7
@UltraCasualPenguin and especially as most of those bridges are likely to be blown up only when the first hostile formation is half way across it so that half of the formations vehicles and personell is knocked into the water while unconcious and/or wounded and broken from the blast, and the other half is divided on both sides of the wreckage as the Finnish artillery starts singing their funeral march...
7
@JanBruunAndersen the doll was never burned though
6
@jeckjeck3119 that's just stupid and irresponsible. What is needed is a good, and effective vetting process that can interrogate and investigate Russian refugees to separate the civilian refugees from the war criminals posing as refugees, and hand over the latter to the ICC and/or the former SSRs court systems that Russia has invaded/"intervened in" since the USSR collapsed.
6
And that should concern the other NATO countries a lot more...
5
And there's no way in hell us Swedes would allow Finland to have all the "fun" without us if they got attacked by Russia again. With or without a NATO membership of our own.
4
@TheMolabola Erdogan already have done just that, so what would be the point of keeping a double agent able to hurt the alliance even more?
4
@abadairshi well... since the turkish state is actively trying to genocide the Kurds, just like you tried with the Armenians in the 1920ies, then every counter attack by the PKK is technically self defence as far as international law goes...
3
@Sophie-go3ql take 'back'? Wtf?
3
@damiion666 which of the Nordic countries has the hottest women? There is only one fair and honest reply to that: Yes.
3
The war has gone on for more than a year with very little if any rotation all the way home on the Russian side in order to reduce desertions.
3
@alisagman362 roflmao
3
@alisagman362 the point at which your argument fails is that as long as there is legalized discrimination of minorities or freedom of speech, association and political organisation is restricted beyond actual threats and inciting violence, then no election is free, and thus the country isn't a democracy. That said, I, as a Swede, and an atheist, think we should modify our hate speech laws to align with our Finnish sibblings, so that deliberate abuse of our freedoms for provocation in this manner is equated to starting a riot and thus counts as illegal for endangering bystanders. I also think scapegoating groups should be classed as hate speech and terrorism.
3
@julianpetkov8320 dude, your hallucinations from overdosing on bathsalts and krokodill isn't real...
3
@XXDJOZXX is that history before or after Erdogan became dictator?
3
Sweden isn't a full member yet, and thus has no say in NATO, but will always back our Finnish sibblings now as before, and Finland will always support their Estonian sibblings in any motion to deterr Russian agression and, in turn Latvia and Lithuania, just like Poland will always support Lithuania and Latvia the same way. While the 'Baltic states' are usually used to just mean Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Estonia and Finland were important parts of Sweden for hundreds of years. Latvia and Lithuania has likewise been important parts of the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth. When Russia nothing more than a patchwork of petty warlords of mixed viking and hun decendants, subsisting on low yield farming, and raiding their western neighbours as well as the once prosperous northern branch of the silk road.
3
Our Swedish politicians should never have started any kind of separate appeasement negotiations with Erdogans or Orbans regimes in the first place. All negotiations should have been made in the NATO general assembly and any non-military conditions should be public.
3
Roflmao! Turkey is no more of a democracy than Saudi arabia is ffs.
3
As a Swede, I hope you will be able to motivate Orban and Fidez into running off to their masters in the Kremlin and never return...
2
ottoman4208 and nobody cares about yours...
2
*satisfying and Naziist
2
@Pierluigi_Di_Lorenzo I for one would actively oppose a nazi government.
2
@vedantdighe4278 yeah, a world without hegwmonies would be nice start by telling the Tyrant in the Kremlin that, I'll not hold my breath for your safe return...
2
It's a public secret that Putin is sponsoring the Swedish fascists and nazis who paid Paludan smand has been doing so for over a decade.
2
Depends.
2
At best, he'd be able to join the anti putin faction of the Russian nazi movement as opposed to the pro-putin nazis wagner is a part of to date.
2
And as a Swede, I'm pissed off at my country's spineless groveling politicians who could have avoided a lot of this idiotic mess by just refusing separate appeasement deals with Erdogan as well as Orban. We are applying for NATO membership as equals, not for becoming a vassal to two faschist autocracies. Thus, we should only deal with the full general assembly until approved, no matter how long it might take.
2
Exactly, and Putin also have plenty of traitor collaborators in SD and the rest of the scandinavian Nazi terrorist movement.
2
@absoluteanonomity6994 wrong. Sweden has had more and longer wars just with Denmark than any other two countries in the world throughout history. And that includes the most recent era of peace that's lasted for over 200 years.
2
@Peter-xg5fq lol where do you get 5k from? The Swedish armed forces is more than 30k strong in just volounteer militia, the regular army is more than twice that on the ground alone, and fully mechanised. The Finnish armed forces have greater numbers still, especially artillery and air defence, but not fully mechanised afaik. (Mechanised=all combat personell in armored combat vehicles, logistics and non combat support also in vehicles but not always armored)
2
@UltraCasualPenguin Poland didn't betray Ukraine either, only Orbans Hungarian nazis and their political allies in other fascist parties in the EU and NATO did or attempted to do that to varying degrees
2
@ronschlorff7089 in a year or so, your traitor nr45 will be getting his govt issue orange jump suit instead of running for a second term...
2
And that will be too late to stop it...
2
And the people Turkey refuses to extradite are wanted for actual crimes, such as murders, drug smuggling, drug selling, sex trafficking, rape, forcing children into organized crime etc. While the worst "crime" the people Erdogan wants extradited has done is to write political news articles, run for elections about him or expose corruption and crime within Erdogans own party... Many of whom has already been tortured in Turkish prisons before they managed to get out and flee Turkey...
2
Umm... Sweden doesn't have a Centre-right government, we got imposed with a Right/christian taliban/neocon government under a nazi-run commissariat...
2
@aaronvarela89 why would you think Putin would settle for Donbass and Crimea when he has litterally stated his ambitions of re-annexing ALL of the former USSR territory by any means...
2
Yeah... right. And undermining both their own and all other defense aid to Ukraine by allowing unrestricted transit trade of essential Chinese electronic components to the Russian weapons industry isn't disloyal then?
2
@UltraCasualPenguin because Ulf Quissling-Kristersson knows that he'll get too much flak to stay in govenment if he does, and personal glory and greed is his only motivator throughout his political career.
2
@gokalpmetininpapyonlusu5810 he only applied for Swedish citizenship by use of his Swedish dads birth certificate in 2020 when he was declared persona non grata for deliberately provoking and inciting riots and violence through his anti-muslim and nazi rhetoric... He's a Danish Nazi terrorist instigator.
