  1. Personally I'd say thorough backround checks, storage regulations and skill requirements are perfectly good gun control measures. Hell, even periodic background checks and checks that the storage is adequate after the purchase is motivated from my PoV. Because there are people who are very unsuitable to own or even be near firearms. The same group of people likely unsuitable to be near sharp or heavy objects due to mental disorders, depression, lack of impulse control or just stupidity.
