@KabonkNo1 seems like it, those continental peoples are weird.

Yeah, the city of the island I grew up on has a modern permanent population aroumd 60'000people and around 100 stone churches... the newest of those churches are around 800 years old, took over 50 years to build in stages from a fishing hut sized wooden chapel and most have been in continuous use since. And the city on the island has a wall around the original city, the wall is contemporary with the stone churches, and some of the old stone built warehouses along the old harbour road... The warehouse walls are around 9ft thick at the base with internal well and still flowing waste water canals under the cellar vaults...

To be fair, as someone whp grew up in biking distance from a city with around 5km 13th century limestone city walls still mostly standing, the Dubrovnik question isn't that strange if those tourists hasn't yet been able to touch or walk the walls and feel that they are as massive as they look. Especially if they have also visited "castle" Neuschwanstein or is so ignorant of European history that they think castle=palace and that walls are just to protect against the elements or look cool as scenery...

When I last visited Paris, I lived in a cheapish hotel about half way between the elevator to Sacre Coeur and Gare du Nord, the stairs in that hotel was both narrow and uneaven and felt like they had glued permanent carped straight onto stone/concrete. Very few straight angles, but fresh, clean, well lit, comfortable beds, good breakfast service for the price, and a great indian restaurant in a narrow street just around the corner ^^

Finnish armored cars are the best😊 /🇸🇪

@koitk people who own surplussed or civilian examples often retrofit them with modern diesels, but the original run on leaded (lead substituted)gasoline as it was the standard fuel for all unarmored Swedish army vehicles at the time, and they still built them with kerosene torch radiator heater and ether ampule injection starter for cold weather starting.

No it isn't

It's apparently Poland

@zsoltlukacs8438 lol! the only Sisu vehicles I knew of before your comment is the 6x6 all terrain & amphibious armored car from the 1980ies 😆

@tntfreddan3138 and a lot of the oldest and the youngest of the really skilled truck drivers in our country got the most intense and advanced parts of their training in the army as conscripts 😄

As a Scandinavian, I wouldn't want to drive myself in any of the Latin European countries, especially not mountain or city traffic, and not in any of the Eastern European countries either, I'd much rather pay a local cab driver colleague who knows the habits and quirks of his regional geography and driver behaviours than risk ending up in a crash by my own foreign ignorance.

Afaik they are still in service but beeing phased out from the Home guard😊

Including straight up the 4m high concrete wall onto the flat roof of a reinforced house and then down again on the other side...

Those older military Scanias also came from the factory with two extreme cold start assist systems. One is a recepticle for a kerosene torch to pre-heat the engine oil and coolant. The other is a recepticle for single use aluminium methyl-ether cartridges that, when activated injects it's content directly into the engine cylinders to get a single cycle of instant ignition to get the pistons going.

Log incidents like that is why the military accessory list for every offroad vehicle in the Swedish army includes a spade, an axe, a bow saw and a 5' iron spit.

@KjellEson more like 90% of the time, but more likely the nearer to a border/ferry port connecting to a € country. So, most places in Scania and the West coast, many of the port cities along the East coast the greater Stockholm area, Göteborg area and most places near Umeå, Boden and Kiruna where the store owners can easily get the larger € bills deposited and/or circulated and the € coins circulated as easily as Kronor.

This vehicle is based on the Swedish armed forces Hägglunds Bv206, differences beeing a civilian, more comfortable and rider safe front cab, a modern, more efficient engine and gearbox, and finally, a modular flat bed rear end instead of the standard utility cab on the military predecessor. The unloaded weight of the vehicle is 4500kg with less ground preassure than a 130lb person on skis.

And to the right across the tracks is the Stockholm Central mass transit hub

As a balding man a month from my 39th birthday, I second this suggestion! Also, find a variation of headwear that feels comfortable and matches your expected social contexts. Be it trucker cap, brittish style flat cap, tuque/beanie casual to a more formal straw, felt or leather hat.😊
