To be fair, at least in Estonia, a lot of the architecture in the western 2/3 of the country has a lot of commonality with the older buildings in Stockholm or Copenhagen, because most of the public buildings in those parts of Estonia was built under Danish and then Swedish occupation prior to the 18th century.

  4.  @celtofcanaanesurix2245  most of the nordic countries also has conscription based defence forces. I think conscription is one of the most cost effective means for small free countries to mount a credible defence while under looming threat of more powerful and agressive neighbouring states, which is the case for every small country within 2000km of the Russian border due to it's authoritarian and sociopathic leadership throughout history, from the Tzars to Putin with few exceptions. Though I presume the people, just like people anywhere else just want to live their lives as free and comfortable as possible.
