Putin's objective has never been about water, people or resources...it has been about POWER! Putin needs this conflict to hang over Ukraine because he can’t let it become a stable functioning state, which would set a dangerous precedent for Russia. If Ukraine can become pro-Western and democratic then the people of Russia and Belarus might want to go down the same path, which is a threat to Putin’s rule

As an American, I can tell you tell for sure that the American people have a great deal of respect for the Russian people and in no way blame Russians for their government... just like we hope Russians don't blame Americans for our government!

Taiwan is a completely different situation. Unlike Ukraine, the US does have defense agreements with Taiwan and closer ties to Taiwan. Yes, the US will go to war with China if China invades.

Since the formation of the UN and International laws... when exactly has the US and/or NATO invaded another country and expanded their territory? Tell me, the people of Syria began to rise up against the tyrant murderer Assad and they were winning by taking large portions of their own LANDS away from Assad. Putin then sent in troops to Syria and began BOMBING entire neighborhoods because he said he wanted to "preserve" Syria territorial borders... And yet, that is exactly OPPOSITE of what Putin is doing to Ukraine. And these territories aren't going to be independent and claiming they are or will be is just more Russian lies. They will become Russian territories if the world allows it! You mention Libya but you seem to forget that the NATO intervention was approved by the UN security council which included RUSSIA!!! So how was that breaking Interntional law? Afghanistan... thousands of Americans were killed and stopping that was NOT breaking international law nor did the UN speak out about it like they have CLEARLY spoke out against Russia yet again invading a neighbor for territorial gains! STOP... Russia doesn't allow for protest and even reporters who write about discontent in Russian politics particularly Putin ... mysteriously fall to their death from Windows that Russia calls suicide!

Being a super-power doesn't mean you're the global police. Ukraine is not a member of NATO... NATO isn't to defend the world from tyrants.

Except people have died... true, not many but there were causalities. Ukraine has never been a threat to Russia... striking back at Russia would inflict more of its people being killed and accomplish nothing. I respect the Ukraine's president for protecting his people rather than Putin who has no interest in saving lives.
