So-called massive failure or not The NRA brought this on themselves, they have had an all or nothing policy when it comes to stricter background checks. The NRA, through the republican party, before this recent tragedy opposed ALL legislation that suggested stricter background checks, claiming it would prevent returning soldiers with PTSD and people on mood stabilizers from getting guns. Which is bullshit. And then you have these NRA idiots and nutjobs I see at Gun Shows that believe they should be able to own any and all ordinance the military has because it's their "right to bear arms".

Nope, you're wrong. I am a gun owner and the NRA is full of shit. You can't deny the NRA has opposed stricter background check legislation through the republican party. Also, where exactly was the NRA on the Philando Castile murder? He was a legal Gun Owner and was permitted to conceal carry? Wayne LaPierre and the NRA abandoned the cause of Gun Rights in that case because Castile was Black.

Castile was murdered. That's why the police officer was fired by his police department the same day a jury acquitted him. They had the video from two angels and the second police officer at the car who DID NOT even draw his weapon said Philando Castile was no threat. Seriously, wikipedia? Wikipedia is an open platform. The Philando Castile case like the Florida school shooting has everything to do with Gun Rights! In one case the NRA is quick to blame law enforcement but when there is a single black male that's the victim of out of control or reckless police action the NRA remains silent.

The NRA has argued against stricter background checks because they know the NICS is flawed by design. The Military, local and state law enforcement are not required to sent information to the NICS, it's Voluntary not Mandatory! This is why so many people fall through the cracks. The NRA helped in drafting the gun legislation and they have been fighting improving the background check, private dealers/sells, and Gun show regulations. Don't be willfully stupid. "Private-party sellers", "Private gun sellers", aka "Private Dealers" between Friends and family. The law recognizes either designation. So yes, there is such a thing. And Like GunShow with their "secondary Markert" designation they are not required to do a background check, it is Voluntary! Prove me wrong! Can you please cite or tell me what the penalty is for any military personnel failing to report individuals to the NICS? Here's the thing, if there is no Penalty Phase attached for failure not to report individuals to the NICS, it's not a requirement it's a suggestion. This is why people are falling through the cracks this is why they need to take another look at it and pass new legislation. Not to ban guns but to uniform the background check provision for everyone. It won't be perfect but it will be a hell of a lot better than it is now.

You don't need to be Certified or to be Licenced for a one on one sale. You do if you deal with High Volume. But if you disagree cite the specific, ordinance, law, or statute?

Again, let me use "simple terms" so you can keep up. A Private-Dealer, Private-Party Seller, Private Broker or Private Agent are all the same thing. You do not need to be certified or licensed for a one on one sell. You can sell your house, Car, or firearms without being Certified or licensed. But if that is your business and you sell in High Volume you need to be Certified or Licensed. Now, which part didn't YOU understand?

Agin, I really hate dumbing this down for you. Local and State police departments only report to the NICS on a [voluntarry basis... it is not Mandatory]. So, if the information isn't reported to the NICS there won't be anything for the FBI to find. Last time I checked this isn't China.
