  1. We were there for 20 YEARS! There has NEVER been an ideal exit plan from Afghanistan. The British were in Afghanistan off and on for over (80 YEARS), since the mid-1870s. And it ended in chaos. The Russians were in Afghanistan for almost (11 YEARS) and it ended in Chaos! Albert Einstein's definition of insanity is to repeat the same action over and over again and expect a different result! The Afghani government refused to defend themselves, and 20 YEARS, $1 Trillion, and almost 2k American lives were enough! In all of the complaining, I have yet to hear a single Republican suggest an Afghanistan exit plan that would have worked.
