Why do you feel the need to erase the Celtic origin of country and bluegrass in an attempt to highlight the African influence? There's no denying that folk music of the British Isles were the direct precursor to this music. American music has been a fusion of black and white from the very start. Sick of this intellectually dishonest, separatist rhetoric.

@BologneseJones History does not. If you educated yourself you would know- country and bluegrass come from Celtic folk music. There is no argument against this. Many of the tunes are DIRECTLY sourced from Ireland and Scotland. Black influence came through the blues and the banjo. European music is the root.
3
Stop lying. Stop stealing European history and culture. The roots of country are BRITISH, especially Scottish folk music. Full stop. Nothing more to say. The fact that black people had an influence on country does not change that.
3
@ZalamaTheDragonGod They're saying that you CANNOT erase the origins of this music for political correctness.
2
@tomas-qr2el Report people for telling the truth in the face of your racist revisionist history?
2
@Lincolnmalcomking Nope, lies.
2
Bluegrass and Country came from CELTIC folk music. That is the source.
2
Every piece of technology in your modern life. Most of the instruments we play and the whole harmonic foundation of Western music.
2
That's the whole history of American music. The establishment drew racial boundaries but culture flowed freely between them.
2
@AlisonCrockett That's a racist reduction and not based on real history.
2
@Monaedeezy Because music transcended those boundaries in Southern Appalachia. The Carter Sisters were foundational Country artists, and some of their sound came from learning styles of play from Leslie Riddle, a black man.
2
@augustinemanga8971 They are telling the truth. You are trying to erase white people from their history for political reasons.
2
@Monaedeezy Because cultural exchange has nothing to do with segregation. You're just pathetically denying well known historical fact.
2
@aubreyyoung4610 That's completely false. The music he's playing has undeniable roots in Celtic folk music, which is the SOURCE of American country music. Please educate yourself.
2
@aubreyyoung4610 Those Scottish and Irish songs were in ENGLISH. Do you know anything about the history? You're so uneducated and yet you're making these bold claims.
2
@aubreyyoung4610 Those songs aren't even similar at all. Grohl was pandering.
2
@aubreyyoung4610 A Celtic person, like their parents, their parents' parents, etc, from whom their songs and traditions were passed down? British and Irish people brought their fiddles, guitars, dulcimers, harmonicas, and mandolins. These people spoke English because England had colonized Scotland and Ireland. Some of the songs passed down were in Gaelic. Over time, people wrote new songs. The influence of African music came in the form of the blues and the banjo. You cannot erase the European origins of this music.
2
It came from the Alps in Europe.

@ Wrong. This is a trend of Black Americans who are deeply dissatisfied with their own history trying to steal it from others. The proof is there for all to see that the primary influence on this music is British folk. You are simply denying the truth.
1
That's because it's their heritage too. Scots-Irish folk is the source of bluegrass and country.
1
@aubreyyoung4610 "Leather Britches", "Soldier's Joy", "Cumberland Gap" and so many more are DIRECTLY from Scotland. You need to educate yourself.
1
@aubreyyoung4610 That's where you're wrong. Death had NO influence. No one even heard them until the 21st century. They were influenced by MC5 and The Stooges. You think if any black person was involved at all then it's "black music" and that is just nonsense.
1
@aubreyyoung4610 That is false. Stop stealing culture and history.
