  5. So the dikes were built to counter future floods. When the rains came the dikes were suddenly not in the right place and were hastily breached as needed by some political authority. Not exactly Yankee ingenuity but the challenging parts are yet to come.

Funny, when I hear "China" I recall arrogant politicians pushing single issue agendas, screwing the Vietnamese on land and water, creating artificial islands claiming it as their territory, stealing everything useful, and trying to make a mess out of Tibet. Not a single item I am used to is happening now. The Tibet is staying with me as I still recall telling a Chinese person that China should get out of Tibet and receiving the answer that Tibet is part of China from way back when. Finally, a long diatribe about Chinese not developing brands in this video can be summarized quickly: "When Chinese were/are stealing intellectual property with impunity then in the Chinese mind it is stupid to develop something that would be stolen anyway." I would not be surprised if the Chinese got the idea to just steal Taiwan -- it's so easy ain´t it. Having said all that, the future of US is not based on the presumption that we lie and steal less than the Chinese. We will advance only when we build on the truth. Yes, the earth is flat, stationary, and covered by a dome. Start there.
