  1. None of the (ex)military officers bring up a single yet unique aspect of the Israel-Iran conflict/war: the initial entanglement. Netanyahu objective was simple: Start something provocative and then watch the US joining/jumping in to fight off the Iranians. But the trigger did not work. Don't know if Trump is really this smart or if he was advised of it, but US never harries to a war. So when Netanyahu pulled his regime change stunt, Trump just pulled back and said: "Your game, pal." Now, if the Israelis get squeezed and the civilians get killed the Israelis will come back asking for help (or try to work the US public opinion in that direction). But they will get the standard answer: "You started without us and it looked like you could handle it, so what's your problem"? The bottom line: wars are expensive and Israelis may not have enough money for that. Got to have smarts to win wars these days.
