  1.  @oldblueshirtguy  Common Law (and Equity) are Law in terms of what a court can enforce. They are not Legislation, which takes precedence over Common Law, nor are they order of the monarch, which takes precedence over both. As part (but not all) of the Common Law was decided by Judges on The Kings (or Queen's) Bench effectively making judgement on behalf of a petition to the king, it is law insofaras legal precedent should be followed, unless the facts distinguish the case under review
