Best for Russia by what criterion? This is a common question.
The Bolsheviks made a revolution in the field of industrialization (without it, victory over Germany is impossible) and the level of increase in national literacy (without it, industrialization is impossible). They equalized the rights of men and women (before the revolution women were limited in social rights) and separated the church from the state. These were positive revolutionary changes.
But the construction of a classless society (communism) turned out to be impossible without mass repressions (this can be considered a disadvantage). But on the other hand, without this, social changes would not have occurred in a short time. Everything is interconnected.
Today in Russia, we have more personal freedoms (compared to the USSR), but our state is in stagnation.
My point of view is that for a correct understanding of history, people need to try to look at the world through the eyes of its main participants. What does it mean? For a correct understanding of Soviet politics, you must become Stalin; for German, you must become Hitler, etc.
What is the concept of totalitarianism? It was created during the Cold War in the West to unite Nazi Germany and the Stalinist USSR as a common enemy. But how was this concept related to the reality of the second world war? The minimum. Inside totalitarian states, their structure was not perceived as imperfect, but as solid. The dictator (actually Stalin was not) was not perceived as a usurper of power, but as a strong leader.
From the point of view of the Soviet agenda, both Germany and Western countries (including the United States) seemed to be imperialist states (you won’t argue that Vietnam didn’t do anything wrong to you, right). And inside Germany, the USSR and the west seemed part of a large Jewish social pyramid (lol).
I wrote a little strange, but I think that you understood my message for you.

1. The majority of victims in the Vietnamese war were civilians, not soldiers. United States committed a conscious act of genocide. The requirement to “stop communism” means a violation of the sovereignty of another state and betrayal of the ideas of freedom and democracy.
Communist imperialism must mean that there is a metropolis (USSR) that receives any privileges from its colonies. Try to find them.
Afghanistan was located near the Soviet borders and had the opportunity to get the government of radical fanatics. Plus, this country created drugs and sent them to the USSR. It was necessary to do something. The Soviet army did not commit acts of genocide here.
2. After the Second World War, the US Army did not leave Europe (maybe only partially). Remember the Berlin crisis? Your army is even in Europe today. USSR created friendly socialist states (to defend its western border), but they were not Soviet puppets. They had their own armies, their own laws, their own culture. Only the restoration of capitalism was forbidden.
3. The average American citizen must be held collectively responsible for the actions of his government. You can not have the largest number of military bases in the world and say that this is not your business. If you consider yourself a true democracy, then this should not happen.
4. The war against Poland was not agreed between Germany and the USSR. Each side had its own goals.
5. The killing of the tsar put an end to the ideas about the restoration of the monarchy in Russia. Deportation was not possible in a situation of emerging civil war. Britain refused to accept Nicholas earlier.
6. The truth is that you deny the enthusiasm of the Soviet people towards the Communists. What for? Why do you think that only fear of them was able to make us support their policies? This is an element of information warfare.
7. Soviet camps were labor one, not death camps. There were people who violated Soviet law. They were not slaves - they received little money and had access to entertainment (newspapers, theater, library, sports competitions). The task was to re-educate the person, not to kill him.
8. The percentage of allied aid from Soviet production.
Tanks - 12.3%
Planes - 13%.
Artillery - 2.7%
Ships - 22.4%
Infantry weapon - 0.75%
Food (grain) - 2.8%
Self-propelled artillery - 7.8%
Anti-aircraft guns - 21%
Antitank guns - 9%
Automobile gasoline - 2.7%
Aviation fuel - 40%
Railway rails - 36%
Steam locomotives - 72%
Explosives - 36.6%
Aluminum - 55%
Copper - 45%
Tires - 30%
Sugar - 29.5%
Cotton - 6%
Industrial machine tools - 24%
The percentage of imported cars in the Red Army:
22.6.41 - 0%
1.1.42 - 0,1%
1.1.43 - 5.4%
1.1.44 - 19%
1,1,45 - 30,4%
1.5.45 - 32.8%
Plus:
In late May 1945, US presidential adviser Harry Hopkins, in a conversation with Stalin, said: "... we never believed that our Lend-Lease assistance was the main factor in the Soviet victory over Hitler on the Eastern Front. It was achieved by the heroism and blood of the Russian army".
In the report of the US President to Congress on the implementation of the Lend-Lease program until March 31, 1945, it was pointed out that the Soviet armies were supplied mainly with Soviet weapons and materials.

1. The NATO bloc was an opponent of the USSR and is now an opponent of Russia. Why this block was not destroyed after the collapse of the USSR if it was created to restrain it? Now you ask me why this block is bothering Russia.
2. If the eastern Europe does not like foreign domination, then it should think so with respect to all countries, and not just Russia. Otherwise, they simply changed the Soviet influence on the American, and thus their position became hypocritical. They lost their moral right to condemn the Soviet policy which was aimed at deterring NATO.
3. If a country is independent, then it must defend itself by myself. If it asks for support from another large state, it automatically becomes part of its political ambitions. Thus, she loses some of her sovereignty.
4. When the NATO bloc expanded - Russia was economically weak, so the situation in Ukraine cannot be an excuse for expanding this bloc. Most countries in this bloc do not have a common border with Russia, therefore Russia cannot threaten them.
5. Western Europe has traditionally been a richer place due to the use of colonial policies in the past. Today, this policy has changed to dominate in economic and political sector. But this dominance is achieved by force and is not a criterion for the right course. This creates the danger that the loyalty of poor states will be “bought”. But don't you remember how they didn’t want to be part of the Russian boot? If a person can be bought, then he becomes a prostitute.
6. You seem to think that you have a real democracy, when in reality power belongs to a small number of influential people. They dictate their will to the majority of ordinary people who are forced to obey. Thus, there is no real reason why the United States has its military bases in Germany, Greece, Poland, South Korea, Japan and other countries. Russia cannot threaten them, and their local politicians are under American domination and cannot expel these people and pursue sovereign policies.

@therainbowconnection6813 You do not have critical thinking because you rely not on the facts that are established by documents, but on your personal antipathy towards the communists. You are not doing a critical analysis of Solzhenitsin's book. For example, he wrote that in 1941 in the USSR there were 15 million prisoners in the gulag, but in reality there were 1.5 million. How did he get 15 million people? He used the rumors that some of the prisoners created.
Or, for example, he says that during the entire Soviet period 66 million people were killed. Where did he get this number? It includes a civil war, two famines, World War II and Stalin's repression. But from this list, only repressions are related to the actions of the Soviet government (a civil war is the result of a confrontation between several political forces). And according to the documents, 787 thousand people were sentenced to death in the 29 years of Stalin's rule.
Therefore, conducting such an analysis, you can see that the book of Solzhenitsyn has no historical value. If a person is objective, then there is no reason for him to trust such a source. But if a person is an anti-communist, then he confuses his positive emotions after reading of Solzhenitsyn with the reliability of the information itself. The problem with anti-communists is that they create a virtual image of Stalin that never existed - fake quotes, paranoia, etc. But they never check the original sources of information.

1). The term dictator means that a person governs the state individually, like a king. But in the case of Stalin, this is not true - the party leads. The supreme advisory body consisted of five people - Stalin, Molotov, Mikoyan, Chubar, Kaganovich. These people were preparing documents for further discussion in the Politbureau. If you study Soviet documents, you can find the signatures of these people (and some others) on them. This suggests that issues were solved collectively.
2). Hunger at this time was also in Romania, Bulgaria, Poland.
Here some additional data.
The famine of 1932-1933 had objective (drought, poor harvest, plant diseases) and subjective reasons -the mistakes of Soviet agricultural specialists, who used the American experience of processing the land.
This experience was unsuccessful in Soviet climatic conditions and a significant part of the crop was lost.
The Soviet government helped the affected regions by sending food aid and opening public canteens.
The documented deaths of 2.5 million people, of which about 77 thousand people died directly from hunger, the rest - from epidemics, weakening of immunity and food poisoning.
The plan of blanks was reduced by 40% relative to 1932 in decree of May 6, 1932 and by others.
Collected grain in Ukraine - 916 million poods of which 280 million (31%) - took the state in the form of a plan.
Soviet exports to other countries were reduced:
1931 (there is no famine) - 4.91 million tons of bread.
1932 - 1.32 million tons.
1933 - 1.53 million tons.
Aid to regions:
In general, from September 1932 to December 1934, Kazakhstan received 5 million centners of grain as food aid. This is 31.2 million poods.
In total, in 1932, Ukraine received 3.2 million centners in the order of food aid, and in 1933 - 5.3 million centners. This is 53.1 million poods in total.
And on the basis of this assistance a large-scale network of canteens was organized. According to data as of May 1933, 8.8 million people ate in rural canteens in the European part of the USSR. In Ukraine, at the same time, there were 20.7 thousand canteens, to which 3 million people were attached. In total, in 1933, catering, including food during field work, reached 39 million people.
