  2. In Italy I learnt in school that it was just a non aggression pact between Germany and URSS. I do not think it will ever be possible to teach "European history" in the same way in the EU 😂 there are like, 30 versions.

  3. WWII is taught in schools in Italy in a very different way than in the USA 😂 at least it was when I went to school in the 80s/90s. Communists were part of the national assembly that wrote the Italian constitution after WWII because obviously they were a big part of the popular front of partisans who freed Italy from the fascists. We had the biggest communist party in Europe for decades after the war. Not even the USA could destroy it, and they tried EVERYTHING. The first time I went to the USA in 1992 I was very confused by the anti communist propaganda. My parents have been communists since the late 60s. I did not understand why Americans thought it was a bad thing. I was young and naive 😂
