  10. Finally, why is Vance preoccupied by what happens here in Europe?? Us Europeans will decide what happens in Europe, not Vance. WE decide what "free speech" is to US, and no, hate speech is not included in our "free speech". Neither is misinformation. Also, many Americans have European ancestors, but that doesnt make them "Europeans". Europe and the USA are VERY different places, we have very little in common today. We have different political systems, different parties, different values etc. I do not think Vance, Trump, Musk etc really understand the European far-right. It's very different than the American far-right. In Europe we strongly believe we need a "big" government that can provide public services to us, like universal healthcare, education, pensions etc. Our far-right is not going to get rid of the welfare system. They wouldnt get any vote. Also, there is a strong anti-American sentiment in many European far-right parties. AfD for example, whom Musk seem to like so much. Finally, there is no "christianity" in most of the European far-right. We take the separation of State and religion very seriously here. Most of us are not religious, and the few who are religious keep it private, like it should be. We support legal abortion, it's not even up to debate in most European countries. I am not sure what plans the Trump administration has for Europe (something bad for sure), but so far they have shown to not understand our politics at all. Nor our history. So it might go very differently than what they think. Trump and Musk are deeply unpopular in Europe. After Musk did that nazi salute, his popularity collapsed even more here. After Bannon did the nazi salute, the French far-right's Bardella cancelled his speech at CPAC. So, it seems to me the Republicans do not really "get" European politics, not even the far-right type of politics. Vance needs to study European history and mind his own business.

  18.  @articrafthandmade6284  I read an article that said the problem with (white) fragile masculinity in the USA is centuries old. They blame different things depending on the time period: immigrants, women, Universities, atheism, feminism, and, of course, the American boogeyman: "marxism" 😂 But it's just them. Every time there is a little change in society, the white man in the USA feels threatened. My idea is that European culture is at least 2,000 years old, and we went thru ALOT of changes. There isn't one mythological past that is relevant in Europe today, or considered the peak of our civilisation. So people are more willing to accept progress. In the USA, you have 1) the myth of the frontier, with "rugged individualism" and 2) the myth of the American Dream in the 50s. I think these 2 myths of a time when men had all the power are still stuck in American males' imagination. I also found out American men think about the Roman Empire alot for some reasons 😂 Maybe from videogames? It's funny because in Italy we do not think about the Roman Empire alot. I think American males have these romantic fantasies of past eras when the "hero" was always a "white", hetero, probably christian, man. Now society has changed, and they actually need to compete with women, non "white" people, and everybody else. They no longer have as much privilege as they used to. And with no privilege, in some places, like Universities, they are falling behind women. So they throw a tantrum. In Italy we do not have such myths. I think WWII changed our society alot, and the end of fascism, and later the '68 movement. In post war Italy there were 2 main parties and ideologies: catholicism and communism. They were both anti-war, collectivist, and egalitarian. In communism men and women were considered equal. In catholicism the gender roles were more rigid, but the wife/ mother had most of the power at home (the husband/ father had more power outside the home). Often a husband would give his wife his monthly wages, and she was responsable for the family budget and how to spend it. Everybody knows how much power Italian mamma has over the whole family 😂 My parents were/ are communist, feminist, and atheist. So they have never been concerned with "traditional" ideas of masculinity and femininity. Sorry I went a bit OT. Basically, I believe the problem with American men is American culture. European countries have different cultures, so different men. Scandinavian men are probably the most progressive ones. But compared to Americans, even Italians are very progressive. Last example: many "manly" Italian men wear outfits that the average American man wouldnt, because the American man is afraid to look "feminine" or "gay" (which of course are insults to the average American guy). Like tight jeans, pink shirts, man bags etc. The Italian man is not afraid, and he knows women will appreciate his tight jeans, especially if he has a nice behind 😉

  20. @gbormann71  and right-wing media and "influencers" (grifters) are only making it worse for young insecure men. Instead of teaching them how to be a decent, respectful human being in a MODERN, EGALITARIAN society, they keep on replicating old-fashioned "rules" about gender roles that ended in the 60s. Modern women are living in the present, modern (American) men are living in a 50s fantasy. Most European men have adapted to modern society and more "fluid" gender roles. Even in more "traditional" societies like the Italian one, a majority of people support feminism (there are polls and studies you can check). In Italy homicide rates are among the lowest in Europe, but, like many countries, we still have too many feminicides (women killed by their partner or ex). Well, one feminicide that happened in November 2023 (that of Giulia Cecchettin) SHOCKED the Italian public so much that hundreds of thousands of women and men took the streets to protest against gender-based violence and forced the government to take actions to protect women. See law n. 168/2023 about violence against women. This was done by a far-right government, btw. We still have a long way to go in Italy for gender equality, compared to Scandinavian countries for example. But compared to the USA? We are a "feminist" country. The average Italian woman would not accept things that are seen as "normal" in the USA. And neither would the average Italian man. The Italian man knows that if he does not treat women as equals, he will never find a partner. Italian women talk to other Italian women, and if a guy is an asshole, the whole town will know and avoid him. So, the rigid, old-fashioned gender roles in the USA is the reason why American men are lonely, insecure, angry etc. They stopped progressing at the same speed as American women. Now they are behind, and it is their fault, and the fault of right-wing media and "role models" that keep promoting ideas that are the roots of the problem, not the solution. The gap (of values, education, etc) between American men and American women is much wider than the gap between European men and women. Especially in the North of Europe, but also here in the South of Europe. In some Asian countries (like South Korea and Japan) they have a similar problem to the USA problem. It is no secret that Europe is the most feminist region of the world, but I am not sure why American society has not evolved like us. It's one of those things that baffle Europeans, like American religiosity, the anti-choice movement, the death penalty, the glorification of violence/guns etc. If you guys do not stop Trump and the christian right, American women will lose even their right to vote (it's already happening).
