Teen pregnancies were so weird to me when I went to the USA as an Italian exchange student in 1992. So glad they are getting sex education and the pill now.

@DoveJS I know about the tragic situation of USA politics today. No offence, I mean, Europe is pretty bad atm too. In Italy we have a "post-fascist" (not sure it is "post" yet) government atm (Meloni). Still, the situation in the USA appears to me way worse. Especially in "red states". Most Europeans are looking to the USA today with a mix of worry and bewilderment. Not all European countries have top notch sex ed like Scandinavian countries, but somehow we never had a teen pregnancies problem. Not even in Italy, which was a "catholic country" ON PAPER until the 80s. Religion is another crazy thing in the USA. Even European "christians" do not understand most American "christians". We never had a "purity" culture in Italy. There is something basically wrong with American anti-sex, anti-nudity, anti-education attitude. The values of the people who fled Europe centuries ago to live in America unfortunately are not dead over there yet. A lot of them were fanatic religious weirdos and anti everything that is fun in life (sex, alcohol). I do not know how you guys can fix it. If Trump wins it will be a disaster for the USA, especially for everybody who is not a white christian wealthy man.

@amazinggrapes3045 I personally think it is nasty to be pregnant at any age since I am tokophobic, but over here in Europe people finish University in their late 20s usually, then they have to start a career. So even if they want children (not many do), it is impossible to have them before your mid 30s.

@amazinggrapes3045 I know. But that was centuries ago. Some areas of the USA seem to be stuck in time.

Teen pregnancies in a "modern" country should not exist. As an Italian woman I was shocked to see that in the USA and Uk when I went to both countries as a student in the 90s.
