  1. I am an atheist, but being Italian, I know a little about catholics. In Italy most of them vote center or center-Left parties. But also, most of them are basically cultural catholics. I even met catholic priests and nuns who were close to the no-global movement. Catholics and socialists/ communists have always been together in protesting for peace, the environment and social justice.

  5. I am an atheist so I have no idea who the new pope is, but the news in Italy say he is conservative, while the Americans say he is progressive. That should tell you how much more conservative the USA are compared to Italy. And Italy is not the most progressive country in Europe by far, unfortunately!!
