@calangel You made up that strawman argument, not I. Every gun owner must be held accountable for their own actions, including who else has access to their guns. @calangel Using your illogic, no one should have to learn how to drive or get a license before they drive. YOU said gun owners are mass shooters, not I. Every single potential gun owner should have to pass a gun safety course, a background check and a sanity test. They should also have to get a license for every gun and take out liability insurance on every gun. That is not too much to ask in order to end the more than 60,000 shootings every year. If every modern, civilized country can do it, then so can the US. It is time for the US to join the civilized world.

@DogTrekker If it wasn't the prevailing one in the courts, no gun law would be constitutional. Unfortunately, it's not the prevailing one with the gun nuts who only recognize the second half of 2A.

Gun nuts love to misquote people who actually acknowledge the first half of 2A, which finds it necessary to well regulate everyone first, before anyone earns the right to keep and bear arms. Gun nuts hate to be held accountable. They think the wrong people should have unfettered access to firearms, thus the reason why they are gun nuts.

@DogTrekker America, love it, or change it. The point is, only a NATIONAL gun law will reduce the horrific number of shootings and mass shootings in the US. It is unconstitutional to deny everyone access to firearms or to open/carry licenses. However, it is constitutional to deny whole groups access to firearms. 2A is not absolute. There are exceptions. That's not my opinion. That's the opinion of SC Chief Justice Scalia in the Heller case.

It is proven that "gun control" does work in every modern country in the world. Criminals and psychopaths in those countries find it nearly impossible to get their hands on any firearms. But according to your gun nuttery, since criminals and psychopaths don't follow the law, we should eliminate all law. It is time for the US to join the civilized world.
