  14.  @ChiChi-jg1ch  Wrong! At the end of WWII, Europe and the UK were bombed out and bankrupt. The world did not need gold, they needed the products that were manufactured in the US, and they needed US loans. The US became a global powerhouse, and that is why the dollar became the dominant currency. Without generous US loans, the UK would have not been able to recover.
