  1. Democrats don't prevent progressive legislation from passing to use it as a reelection tool. Democrats actually don't want progressive legislation to pass. They couldn't care less if that caused them to lose the next election. They have proved their anti-progressive stance since at least the 1968 Democratic Presidential Nomination, when they caused a three-day riot after they ignored the primary voters to pick pro-war Humphrey, who then lost to pro-war Nixon.
