Notice the placing of this definition in first place, which means it is the most commonly used of all definitions, including your ironic "hijacked" definition. Neo 1.) a combining form meaning “new,” “recent,” “revived,” “modified,” used in the formation of compound words: neo-Darwinism; Neolithic; neoorthodoxy; neophyte.
