  1. Maradona is probably in the top 5 best footballers of all time. My order is: 1. Messi 2. Pele 3. Maradona 4. Cristiano Ronaldo 5. Zidane However, he was also, undoubtedly, a villain. He cheated outrageously to win the 1986 World Cup. If there had been VAR in those days he would never have won the World Cup. But … in terms of individual talent, no question he’s in the top 5 of all time for me. Messi takes no. 1 spot for me though, for 2 reasons: he played the game fairly, mostly, and his consistent longevity for Barcelona. Even although he hasn’t won the World Cup, he still gets my vote for the best of all-time.

For all you know he could be a professor of astrophysics at Buenos Aires University. Stop patronising and judging him. I happen to dig Maradona, but I dig 10,000 other things, too.

A country so institutionally corrupt and rotten to the core that it’s constantly economically, politically and socially on its knees begging for mercy, imploring that somebody put it out of its misery. Maradona was gifted naturally (no God involved, my friend, notwithstanding his feckless protestations to the contrary), but Argentina’s 1986 World Cup victory was a cheat’s victory, the victory of a team, to a man, carried by a fraud. Albeit an extremely gifted fraud.
