I genuinely don’t get homophobia. I have many petty prejudices, some rational and some irrational, but hating on someone for whom they’re dating isn’t one of them. For one thing, no one consciously chooses who they fancy, but even if it were a conscious decision, it still wouldn’t bother me one iota a man getting with another consenting man or a woman getting with another consenting woman. What I resent is other people being able to dictate by law what another must do or not do in this matter. I always think in these cases: How would the lawmakers/homophobes like it if they were told with whom they could or couldn’t get? I don’t think they would like it at all and they’d be right not to like it. To me, being homophobic is as pointless, irrational and stupid (moronic?) as feeling resentful of someone for digging Uranus because you’re not an astronomer.
