  10.  @VHS-CINEMA Just for the record: I cannot recall a single occasion where those most vociferous supporters of the Palestinians have even once publicly categorically condemned Hamas. That’s one of the deep mysteries of this whole thing: why are pro-Palestinians not doing this as a matter of course? After all, they are the direct cause of this current bout of trouble, yet little to no condemnation. Weird.

  11.  @VHS-CINEMA I’m not ‘defending’ any position. I happen to think Israel has been far too heavy-handed in its response to Oct 7th, but a large part of the casualties incurred by the Palestinians is due to Hamas embedding itself in its people. I repeat: this is not Israel’s fault.

  15.  @VHS-CINEMA  What’s confusing about this whole situation is that it’s possible to both condemn the Hamas attacks and think Israel has been more than heavy-handed in its response to October 7th. It’s possible to support Palestinian freedom from Israeli state oppression without being antisemitic just as it’s possible to support Israel against Islamist aggression without being anti-Muslim. These 2 things are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Too many folk are either one thing or t’other in this conflict when it’s possible to be both/and. You seem at the very ‘either/or’ end of the spectrum and I’m more ‘both/and’.
