Hate to say this, but with dairy/nut allergies, if you consume anything that is made on the premises and not labelled you’re essentially playing Russian roulette with your life. If I had this condition I would never consume any product in such a manner. If I had a dairy allergy, every time I bought a coffee I would either have it black or make damn sure I actually see the barista adding soy/oat milk, not actual milk, before I drank it, and even then there’s a risk with dairy traces on cups.

@Anon-lz1qy That’s fine. You can disagree. That’s called freedom of speech. I stand by my OP. The other thing here that seems odd is 1. Why are you taking your dairy-allergic 13 year old to a place where dairy is omnipresent? 2. Where was the EpiPen? Either the poor girl herself was taking her allergy lightly or the mother was. Or both. I’m not necessarily blaming the mother here, as at 13, I had a good bit of volition, but she was a child in the care of her mother… 🤔

@davidkavanagh189 Absolutely, sweetheart. 👍 It’s beyond me how a parent can take their 13 year old child with a severe allergy to dairy to a coffee shop where dairy is essentially involved in everything they do and not expect a bad outcome if you are not being vigilant about absolutely everything. And particularly if you don’t bring an EpiPen. 🤷♂️ If my 13 year old were dairy-intolerant and I took her to a cafe, the first thing I would do is make sure she had her EpiPen.

@juliematt1997 C’mon, get real. If you go to a place that serves drinks all day that contain dairy products and you ask a human being to make a drink without dairy, you still have to take responsibility in the sense that you need to factor in possible human error, as in this case. If I had a dairy allergy, every time I bought a coffee I would either have it black or make damn sure I actually see the barista adding soy/oat milk, not actual milk, before I drank it.
