  1. With each passing day, Israel’s claim that this is just about ‘self-defence’ looks increasingly tenuous. Thousands of people starved, maimed and killed: trouble is, they are the wrong people. If my next-door neighbour attacked my family while I wasn’t looking, my instinct would be to go after him, but I certainly wouldn’t attack his totally innocent wife and children, even if he were hiding behind them.
