Looks like that “world’s best sonar tech” may need an upgrade. Unless, of course, some wicked individual dumped her body after the search. What I don’t get is that this body was found 1 mile from the bench where Nicola’s phone was found. Mr Faulding, the sonar guy, told us: “It can generally cover about 10 miles of river a day” . I know the search was fairly close to the bench, but given they can cover 10 miles in a day and they searched for 3 full days, it would be the height of negligence not to have covered the area the body was found.

@SuedeNymme He searched both ways apparently, downstream and upstream, but the basic point stands: if you have the means to cover 10 miles p/day and you search 3 days it begs the question: just wtf were they looking at for 3 days?!

@SuedeNymme Just seems bizarre to me that you have some guy with the latest sonar technology that can cover 10 miles p/day and the cops give you 3 full days but are going to restrict the search area. Smells fishy.

@fookorf Surely should have been the other way round, no? Sonar downstream , divers upstream .

@b.l.a.biglovealwaysbiglove4053 That may be so. But this river is tiny, comparatively. When you have gear that can cover 10 miles in a day and a body is 1 mile from where it vanished, there is surely something wrong. 10 miles a day. 3 full days. They should have had this.

@pjl8119 Indeed.

@b.l.a.biglovealwaysbiglove4053 I take your point about the book promotion and I do consider Faulding a bit of a grifter, but I just Googled sonar coverage and the first thing that came up was: “Searchers looking for missing woman Mary Yap have now deployed a high frequency underwater sonar unit which can cover 10 miles of river a day.” This was in 2017. So, this 10-mile thing doesn’t appear to be an exaggeration by Faulding. Given this, this investigation had potentially 30 miles coverage, 15 upstream, 15 downstream, to locate Nicola. They didn’t. Serious questions need to be asked. This all assumes, of course, that poor Nicola wasn’t dumped in the river after the sonar/diver search, a point I made in the OP.

@b.l.a.biglovealwaysbiglove4053 C’mon man. This wasn’t the Nile. It’s also tidal so sludge? Really? A few reeds maybe. A little silt, perhaps, but nothing the latest sonar high-tech stuff couldn’t cope with. I think you are cutting the investigators too much slack here but we can agree to disagree. 👍

@b.l.a.biglovealwaysbiglove4053 Yes, and the body was 1 mile from the bench! Don’t you get this? If the sonar didn’t go beyond the weir, the divers should have. Did they? Looks like they didn’t.

I think it was more like 1 mile away.

@peacelove9716 I’ll take all of those but you can keep ‘sobriety’. 🥴

@ÆthelwulfOfNordHymbraLand2333 Not buying that one. Nice try, though.👍

@johnross2924 Lol.

@pjl8119 He just told us 10 miles a day. No hype in that. A body has just been found a mile away, or thereabouts. 3 full days search. Potential 10 miles a day? Something doesn’t quite add up here.
