Fact check: You cannot be sent to prison for failing to pay a TV licence fee, only for failing to pay a fine in connection with a conviction for not paying the fee. Big difference but nice try, though. It sounded good.

@TheAArmstrong Yes. If you are fined and you have limited funds you can pay in tiny instalments. You are made aware of possible prison time if you don’t do this. It’s your own fault if you don’t. That said, I do think Edwards should have done time for his crime.

@TheAArmstrong Oh, I agree about the tv licence thing. That’s not the point, though. I was responding to the OP’s incorrect point.

Er, ‘appalling’ adjective: causing shock or dismay; horrific. I think the dictionary definition of ‘appalling’ just about sums it up…

@davidcooks2379 Er, no it’s not in terms of the original comment about prison-time. It moves it back one. Gives the opportunity to be fined and then be imprisoned if you don’t pay the fine. Nice try, though.

@mangostripes2335 Er, that’s not the point. Dude was saying you’d be imprisoned for not paying tv licence. You won’t. You get a chance. You’re fined. Don’t pay the fine and then prison. Pay attention. I’ve already said I think Edwards should do time for this.

@dewiwilliams4821 Pay attention. I’ve already said I think Edwards should do time for this.

@dewiwilliams4821 Again, you’re missing the point here. That being that you have a chance here. If you don’t pay the telly license you’re fined. You’re not thrown into jail. If you don’t pay the fine, you know you might be jailed. Do try to keep up at the back.👍
1
@dewiwilliams4821 Yes, in that order. You don’t go to jail without not paying the fine for not paying your tv license. Once again, do try to keep up at the back. 🤦♂️

@dewiwilliams4821 Keep your patronising ‘pity’ for yersel, son, as yer clearly not very good at this rather elementary stuff.👍

@dewiwilliams4821 More patronising stuff, eh Dewi? You stick to tending yer sheep in the valleys, son, and leave the important chit chat to the big boys. 🐑

@SimonWallwork Utter bollix. The analysis shows that ‘theft from shops’ was the most frequent offence, accounting for more than a third (36%) of women’s prison sentences of less than six months in 2022. (Prison Reform Trust) Nice try though, son.👍
