  1. This is all rather simple. In 2014, 54% of Scots residents chose to remain in the UK. As we speak, the current polls suggest more or less the same result either way. On this basis, holding another referendum just 8 years after the previous ‘once in a lifetime’ referendum feels a little off. For one thing, current life expectancy in the UK is about 80. Given this, 8 years seems rather quick, unless the 2014 pro-independence folk were talking about ‘once in the lifetime’ … of a dog!🤣 🐕
