  1. Slightly ironic that the Biblical Exodus liberated the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and here we are with the Palestinians fleeing the slavery of repression, oppression and occupation for decades and they can’t get into Egypt!

A big part of this whole problem here stems from the religious Zionist zealots who base their claim here on what God promised them in Genesis 15:18.

  5.  @djadam21  Adam, you would do well to read and digest these words, for as someone with no skin in the game here (lapsed Catholic agnostic), for me they are pretty much spot-on: I am frequently asked if I have visited Israel, whereas yet, it is simply assumed that I have. Well, I don’t travel. I really don’t, and if I did, I probably wouldn’t visit Israel. I remember how it was in 1948 when Israel was being established and all my Jewish friends were ecstatic, I was not. I said: what are we doing? We are establishing ourselves in a ghetto, in a small corner of a vast Muslim sea. The Muslims will never forget nor forgive, and Israel, as long as it exists, will be embattled. I was laughed at, but I was right. I can’t help but feel that the Jews didn’t really have the right to appropriate a territory only because 2000 years ago, people they consider their ancestors, were living there. But when you say ‘Western Jews have zero ties to the Middle East from an ethnic point of view’, well, by that logic you could say that the millions and millions of people of Western European descent have zero ties from an ethnic point of view to the North/South America they currently inhabit.
