  1. Yousaf’s personal position may be in doubt but people too often conflate the SNP with Scottish independence and vice-versa. The SNP just happens to be the political party vehicle carrying the hopes of independence, but if the SNP vanished tomorrow there would still be a steady 40-50% support for Scottish independence and another party would emerge to fill the void vacated by the SNP.
