  2. We live on a boiling, roiling rock (core temperature: 5,200°C) spinning on its axis at 1,000mph and moving through space at 67,000mph. Given these basic facts, we can expect stuff like this. The only real reason it matters, is that we are flesh and blood (“thinking reeds” as Pascal nicely put it), and we see this stuff from a totally egotistical point of view. The Universe is indifferent to a small microbe living in a tiny corner of a place containing more suns than there are grains of sand on every beach on this planet. As ever, Shakespeare nailed this: “As flies to wanton boys are we to the gods; they kill us for their sport.”

  3. ‘Prayers’?! Lol. We live on a planet that your ‘God’ created and sustains… why would we need prayers in that case? ‘Prayers’ almost suggests you doubt your invisible sky daddy exists. 🤦‍♂️
