  1. I would draw the line at corporal punishment in schools. However, parents should be left to parent and not be criminalised if they administer a light smack on the back of the hand or backside of their child if the child runs into a busy street or causes a scene in the supermarket. Those who would seek to physically abuse their kids will do that anyway. This law won’t prevent that. All it will do is criminalise wholly loving, well-meaning parents from disciplining their child as they choose.
