I’ve lived in southern France, Italy and Spain and 35°C was considered a ‘hot summer’s day’ back then. When it got to 39°C/40°C it was talked about. 45°C/46°C is certainly very unusual. I say that as someone who believes in global warming (the data is incontrovertible) but is not fully sure just how much human activity is complicit in this warming.

@foryourlugsonly 1.3°C rise correlates almost exactly with fossil fuel emissions. I know correlation isn’t necessarily causation but my instinct tells me on the data that if we continue on the current trajectory, it will be another 1.3°C in 100 years (perhaps sooner with all the feedback loops) etc etc.
