  1. I asked my regular London cabbie, Tel Aviv, about all this and he quoted me something very wise apropos what’s happening in Israel: “When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.” It’s vital that powerful checks and balances are in place to maintain a government’s sense of balance in the power it wields. This goes for Israel here.
