Something hasn’t quite added up since day 1 of this war: Russia, officially the world’s 2nd strongest military power facing off against Ukraine, officially 22nd in this table, and yet the Ukrainians seem to be more than holding the line. Surely a testament to the overwhelming motivation the Ukrainians feel as opposed to the demotivated, morale-lacking Russian forces. Never underestimate someone protecting their home from perceived outsiders. Putin clearly didn’t factor this into his calculations.

  2.  @Chicago48  Putin was hardly unprovoked though. Not justifying his actions myself, but from his point of view he is doing precisely nothing inappropriate.
