@David Prins It clearly was a political decision. We've seen how Wagner preformed agaist US and Kurdish forces in the Battle of Khasham. They were hit with overwhelming air power.

I've enjoyed the work of Thomas Gast on The Legionaire channel. He's a good source if you're interested in the Legion during the 80s and 90s.

@davidprins5504 Point being mercenaries stand no chance against NATO contingents. The same thing happened with Libyan proxies in Chad. They were struck by French airstikes.

@MrLeadb1 Which is clearly still not NATO. Nor does Ukraine have full access to all of NATO's resources. In that case Russia would be outnumbered in aircraft.

@mrobocop1666 I doubt they even have air defense and EW to any effective scale. If anything that would be provided by the Russian Gounds Forces, with their own crews. Even at that the air defenses and EW equipment would be hit from stand off distances. As much as people up talk the S-300. Some were already destroyed in the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War (2020). When Azerbaijan is achieving such feats, their effectiveness is definitely in question.

@Adam A On top of that, no nation's millitary has the resources to invade the US. So there's the breathing space to teach people skills and hand out paychecks for a few years. While providing college grants when they get out.

@viamilitaris011 Although they did engage the US-alligned Kurdish forces. Just because the opposing force is ill equipped does not mean it's a battle. It would be a bit like saying the Battle of Bakhmut is no longer a battle. Because Wagner is now low on ammo and supplies. Leading to Ukrainian reinforcement taking back 14% of the city yesterday.
