@corneliusbinglebottom4749 Although note the Russian MOD resorted to using a PMC because their own people were too incompetent. Prigozhin himself blamed the Russian Army for losing the city flanks. Which are still under Ukrainian control. Since Bakhmut sits in a valley, there can't be an advance until they're secured. Saying conflicting narratives like Wagner is just a PMC. Yet they're also an elite assault force, at the same time. Doesn't really hold up to criticism.

That sounds a lot how Russian media actually is. They outright have an entire government department for censorship, Roskomnadzor. While most of the media is outright state owned.

It definitely doesn't add up. NATO has expanded another 2 nations. Their defense budgets have increased. Not to mention, the Russian economy is small relative to population and territory. The combined economy of NATO/EU nations is in excess on $40 T. While the Russian economy ($2 T) is smaller than Italy ($2.1 T). There's more of an argument that western nations are using the war to drain money from domestic spending in Russia. Which will drop the standard of living and create instability within Russia. Which Russia will play into, in an attempt to not show weakness to it's few international allies.

@mrkeykush693 Although western media is certainly superior. Just think about the fact we're commenting on a western media platform. Posting a video critical of US policy on here, is not going get you imprisoned by the state. There is certainly no direct compassion to Russia. To the point saying "everybody is wrong" is a goto excuse by Russian apologist. Who strangly still stalk around the comment sections of Western media channels. 😆

How is that, Wagner has better infantry equipment than most Russian Army troops. We can clearly see that in the clips.

@robertbradbury7921 The problem being the flanks are also the high ground. Because Bakhmut is located in a valley. At the same time it was really stupid of Russia to not encircle the city before laying siege to it. As is historical standard practice. Notice that Ukraine keeps taking more of the flanks, in preparation for a second battle.

@robertbradbury7921 What do you mean no second battle. There is always the opportunity in the near future. As Russia can't advance without securing the high ground. Also Russia attempting to secure Ukraine will be a pyrrhic victory. As there will be an active insurgency even if Russia secures a conventional victory.

@Robert Bradbury Compare the land mass of Chechnya to Ukraine. Also, the Russian forces withdrew in the first war, they actually lost. Consider it took Russia over 15 years to secure a 6,700 mi² of territory. Imagine how long it will take to secure +233,000 mi². They might as well go broke attempting that fool's errand.
1
@Robert Bradbury Strange that you try defecting to another talking point. While it's objectively true, that Russia lost the First Chechen War. And that Chechnya is 1/35th the size of Ukraine. 😆 By the logic of your own comment, should Lithuania reestablish control over of Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, and parts of Western Russia? Because the Grand Duchy of Lithuania controled those regions prior to and longer than the Russian Empire.

Ironically, that's exactly what Russia does with the central asian republics.

@сесь сясь There's been fight along the outskirts the past 5 days. The area near the Mig-17 monument was under Ukrainian control yesterday. There's a fear a second battle will happen, while Wagner is away from the city.
