This is something ALL Americans deal with, just because someone is a government employee that doesn't make them immune. One thing I do notice in all the scare articles about government employees losing their jobs, the organization is mentioned but never the actual jobs the affected persons were supposed to be doing.

  10. Over the years we've adopted several dogs, when our kids were kids the most important aspect was how a dog interacted with them. When our daughter was eleven the shelter we went to had several dogs that seemed to fit, our daughter sat on the floor and just watched the dogs play however one dog came and climbed in her lap. We had that wonderful little dog for 14 years then a few years ago our daughter with her children went to the shelter. The setup was different (one dog at a time), this time there was one dog that had loving eyes that followed our daughter everywhere. In the meeting room once again the dog chose her, then sniffed and snuggled to the kids. Been five years now and she is very much a part of the family. The idea of NOT allowing kids to interact with a dog before adoption is one of the most idiotic policies I could imagine.

Couple of redesigns ago they closed the street to vehicles, it was nice however the only problem is they also put a homeless shelter there, then wondered why so many undesirables occupied the new space. So last design the re-opened it to vehicles, put in fancy benches, trees, made it look real nice, but left the homeless shelter and wondered why it was occupied by so many lay abouts. Makes no difference what they do, the problems with those people will remain a problem, plus in my last trip (it was necessary) a pedestrian had to watch out for vehicles, homeless and, scooters not only flying down the sidewalks but also lying about for you to trip over. I don't think anything will ever drag me back downtown, just not worth it.

As the line grew the DMV manager came out and announced "Most of you are not getting in so I suggest you go somewhere else", then proceeded to tell us how the lobby was already full and we should have been there early morning. Someone shouted the website says walk-in's start at 1:00pm and he replied that is false, the line starts at 7:00 am. A little later an employee came out and started putting our names on a list and handing out numbers, said we would be texted when to come inside. The manager then told us there was a HARD STOP at 4:30 and the number we were given was for today only and again suggested we go somewhere else. Being only 4th in line I decided to wait, and was rewarded with my number being called a few hours later, just to get inside the door to a full waiting room.

As a CC holder I don't need one of the five dollar purchase permits but with so many people buying firearms this item would seem to slow them down, at least a little. My experience with an in-law who wanted a pistol even though he was a drug addict and under psychological care is enough to give me pause. The local sheriff would not authorize a purchase permit so he tried to steal one of his fathers. Just thinking what if the sheriff had issued a purchase permit.
