Ah yes, the "it can't happen here" mentality. Remember, that was just a movie (which I haven't bothered to watch), reality would be something different.

@LiamL763 There are a lot of survivalist in this country, also a lot of "Preppers" storing large amounts of food. So what do the survivalist do when their stocks run low when the "Preppers" have plenty. Think about the WW2 "Liberator" one shot pistol that was provided in the thousands to resistance fighters. One shot, one bullet, max range just a few yards, what was it even good for when the Germans had the best weapons in the world?

What is missed is this type of war won't be limited to the players you think. Rather than just left against right every fringe group will use the chaos to execute their agenda so it will quickly escalate into a race war, a religious war, a climate warrior war, an environmental war, no holds barred drug gang war, the rise of warlords, retribution of every kind along with reparations. The chaos will open the flood gates of hate and privilege. Sadly there are many people from all sides of every issue that are just itching, waiting for the opportunity to attack and that has nothing to do with the movie. As for the movie, only morons will try and travel into the unknown.
